Materials Management Planning Committee Meeting
The Western Upper Peninsula Materials Management Planning Committee (MMPC) will meet on February 13th, 2025 at 2:00 pm Eastern Time in the 8th floor conference room of the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) Office at 400 Quincy St, Hancock, MI.
The MMPC is a diverse group of people appointed by Western U.P. county boards of commissioners to fulfill statutory requirements. The MMPC is responsible for guiding the development of a multi-county Materials Management Plan in accordance with amendments to Part 115 of the Michigan National Resources and Environmental Protection Act. The plan will serve a variety of purposes, foremost of which will be to regulate solid waste disposal, recycling, and composting activities within the counties of Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon.
The primary topic of this meeting will be an overview presentation of materials management conditions, resources, and needs in the Western Upper Peninsula in relation to statewide policy and goals. In addition, a materials management grant work program will be considered for adoption, and other routine business will be conducted.
