MI Housing Opportunities Promoting Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency reduces waste and decreases homeowner costs

An energy-efficient home reduces waste, makes owning or renting more affordable, and increases the building’s value. Recognizing this important component of housing security, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) awarded WUPPDR over $1.5 million to implement and administer the Michigan Housing Opportunities Promoting Energy Efficiency (MI-HOPE) program.

What is MI-HOPE?

The MI-HOPE program aims to improve the health and safety of Michigan households by providing funding for repairs and maintenance for single family homes, including:

  • Roof repairs or replacements

  • Windows

  • Insulation

  • Furnace repair or replacement

  • Water heater repair or replacements

WUPPDR is administering funds for single-family owner-occupied homes in Baraga, Houghton, Iron, and Keweenaw counties.

Through this program, we have helped dozens of families make improvements to their homes.

MI-HOPE Applications

WUPPDR is currently administering grants for approved applicants, however the MI-HOPE Applicant Portal is now CLOSED to the public.
